Fall Bird Hike - From 8 until 10 a.m. During the 3-mile hike, participants will look for the birds at the park. During past fall hikes, park rangers saw a Red-Spotted Purple Butterfly, Swainson's Hawk and a Painted Bunting! Reservations are encouraged.

Bird and Butterfly Survey - From 7 until 10 a.m. Experienced volunteers are invited to help Lake County Rangers conduct a census of our winged and feathered friends. Participants should be able to identify most common species by sight or sound. Bring a pair of binoculars and field guides. Reservations are encouraged.

Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (PEAR) Park


PEAR Park gateway provides access to ball fields, a dog park, tennis and pickle ball courts situated on 50 acres among stands of live oaks and natural wetlands. Hiking trails meander along 1.5 miles of the Palatlakaha River and connect the gateway with the original 268 acres presently being replanted to scrub forest and various types of gardens tended by the PEAR Park Association Volunteer Organization.
